About ASI Healthcare
ASI Healthcare, a division of American Safety Insurance (ASI), was born in early 2008 with the acquisition of LTC Risk Management, a team of underwriters with more than 25 years of experience in underwriting healthcare risks. This team was originally formed in 2001 and created an affordable liability insurance product for long-term care facility operators, including skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living facilities.
With the acquisition of LTC Risk Management, ASI entered the healthcare liability market with a seasoned team of healthcare liability underwriters with a proven record of creating and administering sustainable and affordable liability insurance products that meet tomorrow's needs. This acquisition is consistent with ASI's strategic growth plans as they brand themselves in the healthcare field.
The acquisition brought immediate change to the product previously underwritten by LTC Risk Management. The product evolved from a Risk Purchasing Group (RPG) into a full risk transfer, guaranteed-cost insurance policy with the financial security of ASI's AM Best "A" rating. The product received some additional enhancements and was then rebranded as ASI MedSolutions. Today, MedSolutions products are available in 46 states on an excess and surplus lines basis and in Oklahoma on an admitted basis.
David M. Stoner, Vice President of ASI Healthcare Underwriting, has managed the healthcare underwriting operations of ASI Healthcare, since the acquisition. Dave is an insurance industry veteran with 20+ years of underwriting experience with middle to large market commercial lines. He has specialized in providing risk transfer and self-insurance solutions to healthcare providers and institutions on a national basis. Dave’s experience has ranged from large, public traded stock carriers to small, entrepreneurial boutiques. Along the way, Dave has achieved some significant milestones in the area of professional development, including earning his CPCU and RPLU designations and is an active member of PLUS.
Paul Marshall, Vice President of ASI Healthcare Sales, manages all ASI healthcare sales, distribution channels and marketing initiatives. Paul joins ASI with a broad insurance background having 19 years' experience in the property and casualty industry including direct sales/marketing of healthcare liability insurance programs, claims and litigation services, risk management, and predictive modeling. He has published articles specific to healthcare liability and risk analytics in the following trade magazines: US Captive, Captive Review, Cayman Review, Claims Magazine and the LTC Legal Forum.
