U.S. Insurance Operations Steering Committee
ASI's steering committee is responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the Company, creating a long term plan to support the direction, allocating the resources needed to execute the plan, establishing appropriate metric to measure the success of the plan, managing the implementation and execution of the plan and addressing obstacles as they arise.
Stephen R. Crim Chief Executive Officer Mr. Crim became President and CEO in 2003, and manages the Company’s U.S. insurance operations, American Safety Insurance Services, Inc., and Bermuda-based holdings company, American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd.
Previously, Mr. Crim served as Executive Vice President and was responsible for the insurance operations of the Program Insurance Services Division of the Company. Mr. Crim joined the Company in 1990 as Vice President of Underwriting, and was responsible for all underwriting functions of the Company.
Prior to joining ASI, Mr. Crim was employed in the underwriting departments of Aetna Casualty and Surety and The Hartford Insurance Co. between 1986 and 1990.
Mr. Crim has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with an outside field in business from Indiana University in 1986.
Joseph D. Scollo, Jr. President and Chief Operating Officer Mr. Scollo, who joined American Safety Insurance in 1998, currently serves as President and COO and is responsible for the Company's U.S. insurance operations. He was previously Executive Vice President from 2003 to 2008, and Senior Vice President of Operations from 1998 to 2003. He also serves as Executive Vice President and COO of the Bermuda-based holding company, American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd.
Prior to joining ASI, Mr. Scollo served as Senior Vice President of Operations of United Coastal Insurance Company for nine years.
Mr. Scollo has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry. He received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Western New England College in 1985 and holds a Certified Public Accountant certificate.
Randolph L. M. Hutto Secretary and General Counsel Mr. Hutto joined ASI in 2006 with more than ten years of experience as general counsel for publicly traded companies, as well as twelve years of experience in private practice in the fields of securities, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining ASI, he was with NDCHealth Corp., where he served in various executive-level capacities including Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Chief Financial Officer and Head of Business Development. He also has held executive-level legal positions with First Financial Management Co. from 1992 until the company’s merger with First Data Corporation. Following the merger, Mr. Hutto was Senior Vice President- Strategic Planning and Corporate Development with First Data until 1997. Additionally, he has 13 years’ experience in private practice.
He received his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the Emory University School of Law in 1978. He was a member of the Order of the Coif and served as the Managing Editor of the Emory Law Journal. He received his B.S. in Biology from Washington & Lee University in 1972.
Ambuj Jain Senior Vice President Mr. Jain joined American Safety Insurance in 2004, and is responsible for overseeing the Company's Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) and Healthcare divisions, as well as the yearly corporate planning and integration of acquistions. He has served as a consultant to the Company's Executive Management since 1999.
Prior to that, Mr. Jain was Senior Vice President, Marketing and Planning for RCI. He has also served as Senior Manager with Deloitte Consulting, Managing Partner with WorldMark Group, Inc., and a marketing professor at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Mr. Jain has more than 20 years of marketing and operations experience. He received his MBA in 1985 and Ph.D. in Marketing and Social Psychology in 1990 from the State University of New York-Buffalo.
Julia Davis Chief Information Officer Ms. Davis joined American Safety Insurance in 2008 with more than 20 years of experience in information technology.
Prior to joining ASI, she was with General Electric for 10 years, where she was the Chief Information Officer for the GE Healthcare Financial Services Equipment Finance division and GE Capital's Business Productivity Solutions division. She also has experience consulting to Fortune 500 companies on strategic technology initatives and has served as an officer in the United States Air Force.
Ms. Davis received her Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics from Lehigh University in 1985 and her Masters of Science degree in Systems Administration from St. Mary's University in 1988.
Simon Day Chief Actuary Mr. Day joined American Safety Insurance in 2009 and is responsible for overseeing the Company’s actuarial function for its US operations.
Prior to joining ASI, Mr. Day served as Chief Actuary for Aspen Specialty Insurance Company. He has also served as Director of Actuarial for First State Management Group and as a Principal Consultant for Pricewaterhouse Coopers in both the US and the UK. Mr. Day has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry.
He received a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from The City University, London, UK in 1988. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Mark Haushill Chief Financial Officer
Mark Haushill joined American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd. as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in September, 2009. Mark has over 20 years of experience in property and casualty insurance.
Prior to joining ASI, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Argo Group International, in the management of the Treasury Operations both at USAA and Titan Holdings, Inc. and in the audit practice at KPMG.
Mr. Haushill graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a BBA in Accounting in 1984 and he is a Certified Public Accountant.
Patricia Kirschling Chief Claims Officer Patricia Kirschling joined ASI in 2006 as the Claim Director of Northeast Operations. She was promoted to the position of Chief Claim Officer in April, 2008, after serving as the Acting Chief Claim Officer from August, 2007, forward. Ms. Kirschling has over 30 years of insurance industry experience, having assignments during her career in claims, product development, and client services.
Prior to joining ASI, Ms. Kirschling was the SVP of Claims and Risk Mitigation at NBIS. She also served as the First Vice President of Claims, heading up the Specialty Products, Excess/Umbrella and International claim groups with Reliance National. Additionally, she has held various claim and management roles with both surplus lines and national carriers during her tenure in the industry. Ms. Kirschling is an active participant in a variety of industry-sponsored associations including the Excess/Surplus Lines Claims Association, where she served as an officer, member of the Board of Directors, and editor of Declarations. Ms. Kirschling is also a member of ARIAS-US (The AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society).
Ms. Kirschling earned her undergraduate degree in English from Montclair State University. |
